It's the little things that make life good

This morning I headed out pre-dawn again - as expected, that sunrise is creeping up a little earlier each day.  I got a good pic this morning:

It made me happy.  But what kept me smiling the whole way was a memory.  While running through the viaduct towards the beginning of my run, I came across an elderly man out for an early walk.  Just as I was passing him, he said "Go for it".  So you know what?  I did.  I ran 10km this morning.  And I smiled a lot.  It was a good run.  So thank you for the encouragement, elderly man.  By the way, I loved your hat.

One morning earlier this week, as we were getting ready for the day, T came up to me and handed me a tooth.  Calm as you please, no forewarning, just all of a sudden - ta da!!  A tooth!  His first one.  I didn't even know he had a loose tooth before that - I'd asked a while ago, and he never mentioned anything.  And no issues with gaps either, as the new tooth was already hiding behind the old one, ready to take its place.  Sneaky.  The tooth fairy was very kind, and gave him a $5 note.  The look on his face the next morning when he discovered this $5 was just fantastic - he was a very happy boy.  It was pretty cool :-)

Right, time to get on with the rest of my day - the not-so-cool stuff like washing awaits.  Still haven't found that housework fairy...

  1. $5?!?!? Wow! Bet he's a VERY happy boy! I'm so old the most I ever got was 25 cents per tooth! LOL!

Love the story about the elderly gentleman's encouragement! He may never know that he helped get you to that 10k mark. It just goes to show how much we can influence other people and never know. Good onya for getting back into the running!

  2. That photo is just lovely. I could feel the calm of the morning just looking at it. :-) And congratulations on your 10km mark! That is an achievement.
