All about kreachr

Y'all may be curious about me.  I know I am ;)  I also know I like to web-stalk people and read about them so just in case you're a weirdo web-stalker too, here's a wee write-up in no particular order (because really, how can something like this have an order?):
  • I'm an introvert.  I'm terrible at small-talk and avoid it as much as possible.  I have a large personal space.  I hate crowds and I don't like parties - I'll be the one turning the stereo down.  I'll also be the one going around with a rubbish bag picking up the empties and doing the dishes in the kitchen.  But get me in a comfortable situation with people I know and I'll talk your ear off.
  • I have a low tolerance for laziness and idiocy, particularly my own.  I'd add rudeness to this, but since I often fail to observe social niceties such as introductions and the aforementioned small-talk, this would be a little hypocritical.
  • I'm a very honest person.  If you ask me 'does my butt look big in this?' I'll tell you straight.  Yes, it does.  Now go and change.
  • I hate feet - they gross me out.  But I absolutely adore baby feet.  They're so cute and squishy!
  • I grew up the middle child of three girls, and was the token 'boy' - I played cricket, helped my dad paint the house, dig holes, mix concrete, all that fun stuff.  I'm terrible at hair and makeup, and I just don't understand handbags and accessories.  Girly screaming annoys the crap out of me, although I have been known to scream on occasion (ie: giant spider appearing out of nowhere on my arm, or standing on a slug at night while barefoot.  Ew.)  Yes, I am embarrassed about this.
  • I am appallingly bad at keeping house plants alive.  They all die.  There has been one exception - the plant my sister gave me for Christmas 2012, which is still alive.  So far.
  • I'm a sucker for baked goods and sweets - both making and eating them.
  • I'm terrible at remembering names and faces.  If I've only met you once, it is entirely possible I won't recognise you or remember who you are the next time I see you.  Take pity on me and reintroduce yourself, it may help jog my memory.
  • I am directionally challenged.  Never ask me how to get somewhere, I pay no attention to street names and will not be able to help you.
  • I suffer from misophonia.  My husband is a noisy eater.  It's a daily battle.
  • I'm a tidier and I hate clutter, especially when its not mine and I don't know what to do with it.
  • I'm a list person and love being able to tick things off.  I'm pretty sure this is genetic - my mum and sisters are list people too.  I also like to be organised and prepared for things ahead of time.  Spontaneity is not my bag.
  • One of my (many) pet peeves is when people don't close cupboards and drawers properly. Deane, I'm looking at you...
  • I like to read and follow instructions for anything from board games to opening packets, and can't stand when people open packets incorrectly.  Again, Deane...
  • I can pick out a spelling mistake from a mile away (although I have been known to miss the odd one or two) but I suck at grammar.  I'm working on it.
  • I use far too many commas, parentheses and dashes, and usually have to go through a blog post or assignment to take out about 20 million of each before it's finished.
  • I'm scared of just about everything - fire, spiders, cockroaches, hurting myself, getting stuck in a tight space... the usual.  I'm also afraid of blindness and/or not being able to see where I'm going.  This includes video games - if I can't see where the map goes, I'll slow down.  I don't want my character to die by falling off a cliff.  I think this is partly why I don't play video games - it's too stressful.
  • I'm a vegetarian, and feel so much better mentally and physically because of it.  I still buy and cook meat, eggs and dairy for my family, but always buy free range and SPCA approved products because it makes me feel a little better.  My vegetarianism started out as a health 'experiment' but I think I'd always been conscious of the ethical side of things, without voicing it.  I would never shoot an animal and don't like fishing, so why should I eat them?
  • I try to buy products that are harvested and manufactured ethically - I buy New Zealand made as much as possible, I try not to buy products containing palm oil unless they are RSPO certified, and I always read the labels.  If I'm unsure I'll check the company website for their policies on ingredients, staff conditions, farmer compensation etc.
  • I have IBS, but manage it well most of the time with diet, exercise and good sleeping habits.  It does tend to interfere with running sometimes though - I have a nervous stomach.
  • I don't cope well with nausea and whine like a bitch when I'm feeling ill.
  • I don't get sick very often, but when I do I expect people to faun over me and pander to my every whim.  Just so we're clear, this never actually happens.
  • I love getting presents and mail.  If I'm home all day I'll check the mailbox several times until the mail arrives.  Yay for mail!
  • I'm left-handed.  When I first started school my teacher thought I was the devil's spawn and made me write with my right hand, then would send notes home to my parents about how terrible my writing was.  This upset me for weeks until my parents finally caught on to what was happening, went into school and complained, and I was moved to a different class.  At least I think that's how it went.  I can't really remember, I was five.
  • I hate flies.  They're disgusting.  What purpose do house flies serve in life?
  • I prefer even numbers or multiples of five.  If the TV volume is on an uneven number I'll change it.  I also like to eat things in even numbers (m&ms, bites of food etc) or equally on the left/right side.  If it's uneven, I'll split the last item/bite in half to even it out.
  • Conversely, my favourite numbers are all uneven - 7, 11, 13, 21, 23, 29... I have no idea why.
  • I love internet memes.  They're so funny :)  I will literally be crying with laughter over them while Deane is sitting on the couch with a mildly bemused expression.  He's more likely confused at my behaviour than entertained by whatever it is I'm finding so hilarious.
  • I drink a large amount of tea.  English breakfast or orange pekoe with soy milk is my favourite.
  • I love food, all things running, sunrises, quiet, reading, my family, knitting, and laughing.  Life is so much better when you're enjoying yourself.
  • I want to run a marathon.  That's the goal for 2014. DONE!!
  • I get a weird thrill out of filing and organising things.  Mild OCD?  Perhaps...  I recently completed a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science majoring in Information and Library Studies, and a Diploma in Records and Information Management.  Organising stuff is awesome.
  • I am constantly amazed by the world and everything in it.
  • I hate having my photo taken and will be overly critical of any pictures of me.  Having said that, I'm trying to be okay with it because if I go missing or die, I want people to actually have a nice picture of me to show, and so my kids can remember me later on.  Planning ahead.
  • A huge part of my dislike of photos is because my right eye is smaller than my left, and I hate my teeth - they're crooked and full of gaps, and I have an overbite.  These flaws are significantly more obvious when I smile, so I try to hide them with ridiculous close-mouthed smiles which make me look even more dorky.
  • I can't stand untidy eyebrows.  If somebody messes up my eyebrows I have to fix them immediately, and if I notice somebody has messy eyebrows, I have to look away to prevent myself from impulsively smoothing them out.
  • I am chronologically challenged, and usually can't remember what order things happened in.  Ask me what year something happened (aside from my wedding or the birth of my children) I most likely won't be able to tell you.  I'm pretty bad with days, weeks and months too...
  • I'm a practical person that buys or makes practical gifts that you can use or eat.  I also love it when people actually use or eat the stuff I give them.  Shower me with praise and tell me how amazing I am!  Or I could just do it myself:

So there's a little window into the weirdness that is me.  I hope you didn't get lost.  I won't be able to help you out ;)
